Welcome to the only Microbiology major in Nebraska, where you’ll receive interdisciplinary training with faculty from across two colleges and a range of departments within the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, all working together to help you reach your career goals. Our program is designed with flexibility to support diverse career paths in fields such as medicine, health, environmental science, and biotechnology. The curriculum is aligned with professional requirements of the American Society for Microbiology.

Microbiology Academic Success Coordinator
As the University of Nebraska Microbiology Undergraduate Academic Success Coordinator, Dr. Peter Mullin is here to help students in our microbiology major do well in their classes, build good study habits, and stay on track to graduate. Dr. Mullin is available to guide you through those tough science classes, suggest better study habits, and connect you with on-campus services. Dr. Mullin also teams up with our advisors and our microbiology community to share news about possible scholarship opportunities, openings for research lab positions, and professional development events to ensure our students are successful here at UNL and beyond.

The Microbiology Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is an interdepartmental major. Faculty from several different departments are affiliated with the microbiology program.
The microbiology program is led by Dr. Karrie Weber, assisted by an advisory committee.
