The Microbiology Instructional Laboratories Outreach program (MILO) is supported internally through the UNL Microbiology Program of Excellence (P. Blum and J. Van Etten leads, L. Voelker coordinator). The goal of the 'MILO' effort is to build on the current CCLI project by creating a network of interactive institutions that will help improve regional STEM efforts in microbiology. It is anticipated that MILO will emphasize initial contact with regional colleges with microbiology laboratory classes followed by exposure of participants in NSF REU site projects, NSF REU projects thereby accessing undergraduates from other regions of the US and secondary school science teachers.
